Cheryl Pliskin DID dream of working with kids. So after grad school, she used her MSW degree to help abused children and then launched a marriage & family counseling practice.
She started a second business in 1991 while staying home with her two young children and Jest Notes was born. The company began with a handcrafted line of note cards sold at juried craft shows along the East Coast. While these shows taught her children valuable sales skills and how to make change, it wasn’t the best long-term fit.
In 2001, Cheryl changed gears. She traded stationery for gift baskets…. left the consumer market and targeted the corporate market. What began with 8 clients has expanded to a loyal following of over 400 businesses that order their gifts from Jest Notes & Baskets.
As her clients’ Chief Retention Officer, Cheryl carved out a niche within the business world focusing on client loyalty. Cheryl has an uncanny ability to take a client’s business issue and design a gift that strengthens the relationship. Whether a client is having concerns finding prospects, getting past gatekeepers, retaining staff or fixing mistakes, Cheryl has solutions.
Anyone who has attended a business function with Cheryl is familiar with her “Roses are red” 30 second commercials. She has a tremendous amount of fun describing what she does! Cheryl believes very strongly in supporting the local community. She serves on several non-profit Boards, donates baskets to her clients’ fund-raising events, founded Mitzvah Magic (a networking/charity annual event), raised Seeing Eye puppies and is now exceedingly active in dog rescue with the Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, created Synergy Works (a B2B networking group focused on experienced business owners), hires all local employees and shops locally for product whenever/wherever possible.
Cheryl is a frequent guest speaker for sales teams and professional groups on building business via referral based marketing. Her special skill in teaching networking is how to give effective commercials and make events valuable.
Cheryl moved her business from her home in 2004 into a 1500 square foot showroom and warehouse space. From a staff of one… herself… she now employs a staff of 3 year-round and up to 12 during the holiday season. Henry (her adopted rescue therapy dog) and her fosters are always with her at the shop.
